Voting System Update

The Aussie BBQ Legends team would like to thank all competition entrants and website visitors for your enthusiasm and dedication to the site.
We’ve received a few queries about the voting system recently. We wanted to let you know that the Aussie BBQ Legends team has been carefully monitoring the voting throughout the competition. We can confirm that voting is technically complying with our terms and conditions. We have not always been happy with the spirit of some of the comments made on the site - so please remember that this website is about having fun!
Since we launched this site in December, weekly prize winners have been chosen through public votes. Those weekly winners are now in the running to be named the Ultimate BBQ Legend. The Aussie BBQ Legends team will consider and announce the Ultimate BBQ Legend winner from the pool of weekly prizewinners.
We thank everyone for their creative entries and encourage you to continue taking part, participating with the fun and sharing spirit that was intended when we launched Aussie BBQ Legends.
All the best,
The Aussie BBQ Legends team.

I feel that the ultimate winner should go to someone who represents ALL Australia no matter what thier original nationality. Anyone who can cook all variety of foods on the BBQ is an absolute Aussie bbq ledgend in my book.
I am typically 8th generation Aussie ( last name Skipper as in ship) and can trace my great-great grands back to early setlers days but love the fact Australian's to day are multi national.
If you can cook it on a barbie then onya Mate!
Lets encourage this way of thinking!

@Janet
Hey Janet, we've been trying to contact you over email but it keeps bouncing on us?
We just wanted to touch base with you to discuss your frustration with the voting system. We too have been quite frustrated with the negative votes and some of the comments on the site not being within the spirit of the competition, which is to have fun and celebrate the BBQ as a unique part of Australian culture. While the voting system is used to determine weekly winners, which you've won (congratulations), it doesn't have an impact on the Ultimate BBQ Package prize; and as such, you're still in the running to be chosen for this.

I think that it is a great idea, that way the person the company feels is the ultimate BBQ legend will win, not beacause of popularity or computer access, but because they had a good entry :)

What will be will be
I am just thrilled to be a weekly winner as I can't buy the Beerenberg products in my area, the closest is 3 hours away and I have driven that far to buy them only last weekend !

How does the panel decide?
Jan 25 | Janet
That's correct, the number of votes count for the weekly prizes, but don’t determine the winner of Ultimate BBQ Package award. The Ultimate BBQ Package award will be judged by a panel comprising the Aussie BBQ Legends team, from those weekly winners.

hi
I'm not sure if this really is fair! the entries that the public think are better have been getting more votes its unfair to take that away and give it to one person who's opinions may not match those of the society.

Questions
Does that mean that the final winner is not judged by the amount of votes they have? Who decides who wins? Is it a panel, the organiser of the competition or a Beerenberg representative? How are the entries being judged? Are there guidelines or things to observe when deciding on the winner?
