Aussie BBQ Legends

The BBQ consisted of ~25 people. The Triple J Hottest 100 was cranking in the background, and meat was pouring off the BBQ. The entertaining area was complete with Kiddy Pool, and a plethora of eskies with icy beers. However, no BBQ is complete without some visual entertainment.............

Entertainment was provided by means of the Trolf World Championship. Trolf is an ingenious game invented around the surrounds of my friend’s tennis court. The game consists of a player at each end of the tennis court, standing on a 2m x 8m portion of grass. Behind each player is a fence, approximately 2.5m high and 8m wide. Each player has a golf club. The game commences with one player hitting a tennis ball to the other end with an aim of hitting the opposing fence. The defending player can stop the tennis ball with ONLY his/her golf club. The players take in turns to 'attack' the opposing fence. Points are scored by hitting your opponent’s fence. Bonus points are scored by hitting the fence on the full, or by rebounding an attacking shot. Points are lost by hitting the ball over the fence on the full. First to 7 wins.

The world championship is a very serious event, taking place every Australia day. The top 5 players are seeded into the event, with remaining spots available for wildcard entry. The tournament is round-robin style, with top players from each group advancing to finals. Every player must have an alias to enter the tournament, and this alias must reflect their trolf-ing game style. The photo attached depicts the Grand Final match between Sensai Flick (left) and Counterstrike (right). Counterstrike was the eventual victor in 3 tight sets, and took home the coveted ‘Trolfy’.

Amazing food, cold beers, good music and world class sporting entertainment clearly combines to form a Butt Kicking Barbie!
